The Killabits feat. Thugli + Loud Luxury - Review + Photo Preview

The Killabits threw down an amazing set at Cobra in London, Ontario last night!! With opening sets by Thugli + Loud Luxury, these DJ/Producers all proved that two is better than one. Loud Luxury started off the night right, getting the crowd into the mood and Thugli came in and really amped up the crowd. Everyone was ready for The Killabits and as always, their set was amazing. From Trap to Electro to Jungle and of course Dubstep, every track seemed to be the perfect selection! Shout out to the Lion's Den U crew, always a great time!  Here is a preview album from the night. Full album coming soon.

Exclusive Interview: Kid MK - Courtesy of The London Underground and Social Talk

Zen C Photo

Through working in the London and Toronto music scene promoting and shooting events I was familiar with Alex Tribe, AKA Kid MK. I knew that he had a strong presence in London and T.O, dating back to 2004, and I have actually seen him spin a few times over the past few years. I always love his high-energy sets, pulling from many different genres, but I never really knew much more beyond that. The ladies love him and the crowd thrives off his energetic sets. When he agreed to do the interview I was excited to understand more about himself and his music. I wanted to open the door up to his life as a DJ, and of course, Kid MK delivered. Without giving away too much, allow me to introduce to you more personal side of Kid MK.

Let’s kick things off with how long ago you started working in the music industry as a DJ/Producer? How did Kid MK come to exist?

I would say I probably got started producing hip-hop back in about 2004 or so. I started working with a bunch of Toronto artists and would spend all my weekends in the studio recording and working. The original Kid MK was a guy who couldn't stand house parties or night clubs and would rather spend Friday nights just working on tunes and the name was given to me by some of the artists and friends I was working with at the time. I was a bit more behind the scenes then and was more interested in working and recording in the studio then going out to the club. It wasn't until I started DJ'ing and started playing out when I learned how to enjoy a good party!

The Killabits - Oh Hai! EP [Free Download]

From Dubstep, to Moombahton and even a little Juke, The Killabits have covered it all with their latest EP, 'Oh Hai!'. The EP comes as a free download for their fan's continued support! The EP features Oh Hai!, a groovy Moombahton track that sounds great, along with a killer remix by Dr. Ozi. It also comes packed with a remastered version of 'Errbdy!', which I like better than the original. 'Bow!' rounds up the EP with a sharp dubstep track. Enjoy and don't forget it's a free download!

From Reidiculous to Reid Stefan

Social Talk favourite, DJ Reidiculous has decided to reinvent himself under his original name, Reid Stefan. Here is what Reid Stefan had to say:

"I've decided to move forward as an artist under my actual name @Reid Stefan I feel the change will help me become the serious EDM artist I aspire to be. I believe the quality of my work is far more important than my name, but it doesn’t seem right putting a cheesy title on serious music. I am very excited to begin a new phase of my career as Reid Stefan. In addion to my regular top 40 remixes, I will be making more original music. Which leads me to the even bigger news... I will be releasing my first 5 Track EP on March 18th ;)"

He has released 2 remixes on his new Youtube channel and so far I'm loving what I am hearing! His first is a remix to Duvoh & Tess Marie's 'Come Over' and the other is a remix to James Egbert's 'Back to New'. Both sound great and you can definitely hear a progression in Reid's sound. I think this change in name couldn't come at a better time! This new stage name will give him much more of a professional edge.

Game 7 is finally back with an amazing remix to UK based Stephen Ridley's "To Be Alone With You". Game 7 was actually commissioned to do this remix and it proves to be some of his best work to date. Zedd - Clarity feat. Foxes (Tiësto Remix)

I'm surprised this song is getting some, if not any bad reviews because in my opinion Tiësto has done a great job on this remix. It's a solid mix of electro and dirty dutch! The full remix album of 'Clarity', original by Zedd, is finally coming out February 12, 2013, a week today. Check out, in full, the Tiësto remix below and comment with what you think about this remix. Enjoy!

I love It, by Icona Pop featuring Charli XCX was recently featured on the latest HBO Girls episode and immediately I loved the song. I wanted to find a remix that gave it that extra punch and this is it! Apacalypto amps up this already great tune and gives it that electro punch.

Friday Night Pre-Drink: Will Sparks - Ah Yeah!

Will Sparks, a DJ/Producer that I was unfamiliar with until hearing this song, 'Ah Yeah!' really caught my attention with this banging electro masterpiece that he released near the end of 2012. I love producers that change it up and bring out the most unique music. I'll definitely be keeping my eye on him in the future!
