Milo & Otis- Friendly City (Absolute Banger!!)

Milo & Otis sample Justice's, “We are Your Friends” in their new track Friendly City. This upbeat dance anthem is infused with a dubstep bassline and the vocal line matches it perfectly. Not to mention, it’s impossible not to love the transfixing drop and electric feel. My only complaint about Friendly City is I would have loved a few more minutes of it! It's just an absolute banger!

Feel your heart out,

Sunday FunDay Part 3: Raise Your Weapon (Madeon Remix)

I just came across this song the other week and I'v been playing it on repeat ever since! Madeon remixes Raise Your Weapon, original by Deadmau5, and he brings with it a whole new sound.  It came out just about a year ago and I must say, I've been missing out on Madeon. His electro pop style works well against the original and I love it! Check it out and enjoy.

Daily Dirty Dub 30.0 - Tim Berg - Seek Bromance - HorrorFox Remix

Considering this is the 30th Daily Dirty Dub on Social Talk, I thought it was appropriate to feature and absolutely filthy remix! It was sent over from Daniel the other day and immediately I knew it was going to be the 30th feature. HorrorFox has remixed the acclaimed 'Seek Bromance', original by Tim Berg (Avicii). Such an amazing take on an already very reputable song. My favourite aspect of this remix is that not only does it thoroughly integrate the original, it also brings a whole new vibe and essence to the song. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comment section below. Enjoy!

Brand New: Deadmau5 - Fn Pig

Keeping the Deadmau5 going!! Mr. Deadmau5 himself, Joel Zimmerman has been releasing tunes like crazy lately. His latest creation, 'Fn Pig' is nothing short of his amazing talent. Crisp, clear and essential. Great track Mau5, can't wait for more!

Dash Berlin ft. Sarah Howells - Go It Alone

The second I heard this song I knew I had to share it with all of you. Bringing me back to my trance roots, Dash Berlin produces a powerful, moving piece that reminds me why I love EDM. The vocals by Sarah Howells are beautiful, sexy and really make the song a killer track. Nothing not to love about it, check it out.

Move your heart out.

Also, check out the video below, pretty sweet!

Wolfgang Gartner - Redline

Redline by Wolfgang Gartner is big sound from beginning to end. Trying out some new styles apart from his standard, Wolfgang is definitely on the right track, and continuing to show how talented he is with every track he produces. With more of a progressive-house feel than he usually goes with, Redline is sure to blow up the electronic music charts!

Rave your heart out,

Rewind to the Future: The xx, Redial & Zeds Dead

In the fast pace, always evolving world of Electronic Dance Music, songs come and go every minute of everyday it seems. The more music that is presented to us, the more digging you have to do in order to find only the best. Social Talk is dedicated to only 'good' music and I believe that reviving a few of the better songs from the rise of EDM is important.

Today, I'm featuring all remixes that have stuck with me over the last few years. Check out this weeks 'Rewind to the Future'; a couple of tracks that define themselves not by the artists themselves, however,  by the sheer quality of music produced! Enjoy.

Florence & The Machine - You've Got the Love (The xx Remix)

EDM Mondays #5: Project 46 feat. Andrew Allen - Reasons

Project 46 just released his latest track, 'Reasons', featuring Andrew Allen and I love it. This upbeat, progressive house track has all the right sounds and synths to bring you to your feet. Andrew Allen is featured as the vocalist on this track and he gives off a Calvin Harris vibe with his own added touch! I have a feeling this track will be making major headway in the forthcoming days and months. 'Reasons' is a house banger that will lite up the dance-floor this summer!

Daily Dirty Dub 28.0 - Rusko - Skanker

Rusko is pushing boundaries and bringing dubstep to a whole new level. 'Skanker', a reggae inspired track off his latest record has you wobbling and jamming your heart out from start to finish. The track is off of his new cd, “Songs” which is a whole lot of sexy. Skanker is definitely going to be one that both true dubstep and new dubstep fans will find themselves dubstep skanking to. Take a listen!

Skank your heart out,

deadmau5 - The Veldt

Check out the latest track by the one and only, deadmau5. 'The Veldt' is a vocal-house original that features the synthy vocals of Chris James. It's a very melodic track without too much going on. It's an easy listen that's perfect for background music while studying or cruising down the 401. Not my favourite track by the mau5 himself, but definitely growing on me with every listen. Enjoy!

Kid Cudi ft. MGMT - Pursuit of Happiness (Slinks Hangover Remix)

The Weeknd -  High For This

Kanye West - Sky High feat. Kid Cudi

Kid Cudi -  Marijuana

Lil Wayne -  Pussy, Money, Weed

Zedd – Stars Come Out (Lazy Rich Remix)

I’m a new fan of Zedd, as his music never used to catch my attention. His performance at Ultra Music Festival definitely rocked the crowd though, and this Lazy Rich Remix of “Stars Come Out” has both catchy vocals and raunchy synths. Can’t help but give the guy mad respect for this track.

Rave your heart out.
xx,
K

P.S. A really cool video to go along with the song as well!

Katy Perry- Wide Awake (Shane Martz Remix)

Shane Martz is back with a remix to Pop Icon, Katy Perry's 'Wide Awake'. It's exactly what you expected and more. Staying true to his roots, Shane is pumping out the mellow dubstep on this track and killing it! Shane has definitely progressed his quality of sound and it shows. Each song he releases is better quality and more in sync with his own sound! Good job Shane, you're becoming a staple in the underground music scene! Check it out below, it's a great track and it's a free download!

Cheers,

Brand New: Dada Life - Rolling Stones T-Shirt (Chuckie Remix)

This remix is out of control! Chuckie killed the track!

The Night Out (A-Trak Remix) – Martin Solveig

There isn’t a Martin Solveig song I don’t like, and 'The Night Out' is no exception. A-Trak pulls in a much more EDM feel to it than the dance beat it has before being remixed. A little bit of a Justice feel to it, it’s definitely one to turn on and turn up.  Upbeat and catchy, I know it’s one that people will be asking... “hey baby, what’s that sound..?” While you’re at it, check out the  Lenno remix as well.

Jam your heart out bitches.

xx,
K

Daily Dirty Dub 27.0 - Skrillex & Damian "Jr Gong" Marley - "Make It Bun Dem"

I'm sure you have heard many rips of this song on the internet, but the final version is finally here! And it is pretty bangin'. This Skrillex/Damien Marley collaboration takes dubstep and EDM music again in different direction and I love it. Reggae meets Dubstep, pretty fucking dope. Check it out below!

Banger on the Decks: Sidney Samson - Get Low (Original Mix)

This song showed up in my inbox late last night and when I woke up this morning I couldn't wait to hear it! One of the first thoughts I had when I woke up was that for some reason it was going to be a killer track. Dutch powerhouse Sidney Samson released his latest single, 'Get Low' and it is absolutely massive! See what some very notable DJ's have had to say about the track:

David Guetta : 'hugeee'
Tiesto : 'full supporting!'
Hardwell : 'Big!
Nicky Romero : 'Huge!'
Tocadisco : 'love it!'
Dada Life: 'FATTT!!!''
Thomas Gold : 'niiiiiiceee!'
Jordan Suckley / BBC Radio 1 : 'Massive!'
Danny Howard / BBC Radio 1 : 'Club Banger!!!'
Diplo : 'Damn heavy shit!'
R3hab: 'big support!!!'

Check it out below, you will not be disappointed!

Sunday FunDay Part 2: Rita Ora ft. Tinie Tempah - RIP (Gregor Salto US Club Mix)

Rita Ora

RIP by Rita Ora featuring Tinie Tempah is an unreal song on its own, but add in the remix from Dutch producer Gregor Salto, and you've got a hard hitting banger. He's pretty well known in Europe, and this remix will surely leave you wanting more.  It's more dance-y than I usually go for, but there's something about it that's irresistible.

Dance your heart our bitches.

K

SocialHouseBreakdown #2: Bliss - Christopher Alarcon (Original Mix & Interview)

(Chris' studio)

SocialHouseBreakdown is back with the latest original, 'Bliss', from underground Nashville DJ/Producer, Christopher Alarcon! I thought it would be fun to do a littler interview with the man himself. I had the chance to catch up with Chris yesterday and he answered a few questions I had for him. Check that out below along with his newest song, 'Bliss'.

What's your current favourite song? and remix?

"Hmm current favorite song is a tough one. right now i'd have to say it's "Feel" by Third Party vs. Cicada". Favourite remix at the moment is probably the Beating of My Heart remix by Matisse and Sadko. Huge tune".

When's your next gig?

"Next gig right now is undecided. I just got done playing a foam party this past weekend that was a lot of fun. But I'm really looking forward to next september. I'll be playing the first ever Ashland City Music Festival in Ohio which should be a whole lot of fun as well."

Greatest accomplishment?

"Greatest accomplishment so far has to be getting an email from Nicky Romero telling me he's gonna play my solar vs. open your heart mashup. That was a great feeling. Also, all the support i've gotten for my tracks especially recently. I haven't been doing this long (less than 2 years) so it's great to see people liking my music."

What's a track you have to drop during every set?

"A track I love to drop every set is Calling by Ingrosso and Alesso. and now with the vocal mix i love it even more!"

Lastly, when can we expect another remix?

"Another remix.. I really wanted to do a Gotye remix but it seems like everyone is using that so I probably won't do one. But im working on a lot of original tracks right now for an EP release soon. Remix wise I'd like to take on the new Calvin Harris and Ne-yo tune, so hopefully I can get to work on that soon. Calvin is an idol of mine."

Thanks to Christopher for the interview! Looking forward to your new music!

Brand New: Flux Pavilion - Daydreamer (Ft. Example) (Dillon Francis Remix)

Hot off the press, or should I say decks? Flux Pavillion's latest track 'Daydreamer', featuring Example, just received the Dillion Francis treatment and let me tell you, it is a remix worth tuning in for! With a heavy moombahton meets duubstep vibe, this remix is unreal! Mr. Francis is killing it these days! Check out his latest instalment below.

Music to Compliment Your Studying: Top 5 Breakdown

Whether you're here till the 21st, or the 30th, you're going to need to study, which means, you're going to need some music to keep you from going clinically insane. Fortunately, you have me for that. The next five songs are probably going to be your saving grace over the next few weeks. Listen to them and love them.

Number 5) The Drifter (Original Mix)- Child in Disguise- If I need a song to motivate myself to get my shit together and start working, I always put on The Drifter. It has a great steady beat for reading to, and is perfect for putting on replay as a constant unreal jam.

Number 4) Breathe- Ted Hunter- Ted Hunter’s song Breathe was voted top 5 in The First 15 Contest, and is definitely worth listening to, especially while studying. The piano in it is absolutely incredible, and knowing a Western student produced this makes it all the sweeter.

Number 3) Rio de Janeiro- Maison and Dragen- Rio de Janeiro exemplifies all the sounds that are paradise to me, which reminds me that I go to Europe as soon as I get past these exams. Hopefully it gives you the same kind of reminder for summer as it does for me?

"We f**king rockstars, call us Zeds Deppelin"

Well, the title of this post pretty much says it all. Zeds Dead is taking over the EDM world one day at time! Currently touring North America on their #LivingDead tour, Zeds is bringing opening acts Araab Muzik, XI, Memorecks, Mat the Alein, and Knight Riderz along for the ride! The tour boasts over 70 dates in just 84 days!

The title of the post references my personal favourite track from their latest EP Victor with Omar Linx, 'You and I'. The hauntingly beautiful voice of the female singer, along with a strong rap from Oman Linx combines into an unreal lyrical
hip-hop meets dubstep track! Check it out below. To check out the full EP click here!

Are you in A State of Trance? New Sounds, New Faces

Having missed Armin Van Buuren at the Western Fair District on Thursday, I sulked in my room all weekend. I played every song I’ve ever heard by this world famous Dutch artist, downloaded another fifty at least, and raged like never before… Yes, on my own... Judge me, I dare you.

I came across a gem of a jam that is definitely worthy of being my first song shared with you. The ASOT 550 Anthem, “Invasion” by W&W will keep you bouncing in your seat, car or shower with its unreal hook and dirty bass line. Check out the transition at 2:12 for my personal favourite part of the song. Chosen by Van Buuren’s most loyal listeners as the anthem for A State of Trance episode, I’m sure it’s one we can expect to hear a lot in the  coming months and of course, get us through exam season.

Rage your heart out bitches.

xx,
K♥.

Get to know Kirsten:

My name is Kirsten Matthews, and I am legitimately addicted to music. I grew up in Markham, Ontario, and listened to primarily hip-hop, rap, r&b, and top 40. When I was 16, my parents up and moved my ass to a little peach of a town, Welland, Ontario. Having little else to do, this is where my musical interests expanded, including everything from country and blues, to reggae, indie, reggaeton and my most favourites, house, trance and dubstep. I only hope you love the unreal shit I share with you as much as I do.

Daily Dirty Dub 26.0 - Cudi The Kid feat: Kid Cudi and Travis Barker (DESIGNER DRUGS REMIX)

Designer Drugs just released their latest remix to Cudi The Kid by Steve Aoki, Kid Cudi & Travis Barker. It's definitely a dubstep remix that takes Designer Drugs in a bit of a new direction.
